Many are aware of colored ribbons being worn to represent something. An illness or disease, a movement or showing support. You might be familiar with a pink ribbon being worn to provide both an awareness and to honor those with breast cancer. Upon researching the colored ribbons, most colors have multiple meanings. Mourning is, as you would guess, represented by a black ribbon. Here at Operation Widow Relief, we look to remembrance within the grieving process, and hope in the future. That is why we have decided to represent our support by offering the black and blue ribbon, meant to signify and honor the loss of a husband. This representation of colors provides something to remember; just as a dark black storm begins to leave, the glimpse of blue provides hope for a new day, a new chapter.
In the future, we hope to provide options of apparel and merchandise to help raise funds for the cause, and to provide a much needed awareness to the world.
